Here's a little bit about the author, John Alexander, in his own words:
"I was born and raised in Roseville, California, 7 miles East of Sacramento, and have lived in the Central Valley of California for the better part of the my entire life. My first job in the central valley was working for E & J Gallo Winery, in Livingston as a compliance clerk. I worked full time and finished my bachelor’s degree at Stanislaus State in Business with a concentration in Human Resource Management. I was promoted to Personnel Representative at the Winery, where I hired seasonal labor for the grape harvest and wine production. After a few years, I went to work at a large commercial printing organization (Color Press, which became World Color, which became Quebecor World) in Merced, where he hired manufacturing employees and supported training and safety programs. In 2000, I was hired as the first HR Director at Golden Valley Health Centers: it was there that I found my calling. Watching dedicated clinicians and staff providing care to the underserved populations made me wonder what I could do to support this great work. I went back to Stanislaus State and received my MBA. One project I worked on was creating staffing patterns for community clinics. MGMA data was not working efficiently and we wanted to maximize ROI on Federal money and grants. I moved to Oregon for 18 months, acting as the regional HR Director for PeaceHealth Oregon region. After a short period of time there, I realized I missed working with underserved populations and returned to California as the Director of Special Projects at the Central Valley Health Network. In 2005, I was offered the opportunity to move to Bakersfield and work as Chief Operations Officer for Clinica Sierra Vista. In the time I was there we opened three new facilities. I returned to Merced in 2007, and I went to work at the healthcare consortium, providing advocacy, communication and support for the safety net providers here. I am now ready to undertake the next step in my career, and lead Livingston Medical Group as the new CEO."
